| A while ago Martin did say that he was having problems with quality control at the anodising plant and had moved production to a company in Scotland. Well I don't think his problems are entirely over as these four photos above demonstrate. When mounted these flaws are hidden from view and I have to say that all visible external surfaces are fine. Maybe I am just unlucky with this one. However, I am not getting upset over it as a bit of a clean up and wax will protect the metal. The anodisers really should take more care. | |

Changes have also been made to the button and we see the new version on the left with the old original on the right. There is again a slight quality issue as the vinyl was stuck on out of alignment and with a twist to the left. I could easily have cut off the overhanging bit of vinyl but I was worried about scale accuracy with the twist. The crease in the top left corner is where I attempted to peel it off so that I could re-fix it. No joy there!! It was well and truly stuck. I suppose the occasional duff part can slip through the net. I gave Martin a call in the morning and with due credit, apologies were given and a perfect new one arrived in the post the next day. The replacement was a perfect fit into the plate needing just the slightest of easing to one of the little moulded adjustment "bumps"

The outer edges of the fence mounting holes in the carriage were rather ragged and in fact I nicked my finger on the sharp edge when I pulled the channel out of the box so take care with yours. It was little effort to clean up with a small file but should, I think be taken care of on factory inspection and assembly. |

Here is another carriage hole that needs attention. |

The tapped holes for the plate are cleaner but still have some minor swarf edges which can catch you if you are not careful. |

Sorry, a bit out of focus but you can see the raised edge on the thread. On my old channel these holes were beautifully countersunk and I feel these should be too. Admittedly I am being a bit critical and in truth it only takes a minute or so to run around all the holes with a counter sink to clean them up |

This was the worst thread and I had to run a tap down through it to clean them up before it would accept a bolt. All the other actual threads were perfectly fine. |
